Capital Case Information
Capital Case Qualification Affidavit and Instructions
The Capital Case Attorney Roster, which compiles all attorneys who are qualified for appointment in capital cases in Tennessee, is continuously updated and maintained by the OACC. There is no deadline for submission of the materials to qualify, and all attorneys who would like to be included are encouraged to send in their materials for inclusion.
The qualifications for a capital case attorney are listed in Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 13, Sec. 3 and Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 56, Sec. 6. The Capital Case Qualification Affidavit is available here, and is a fillable form. Once completed, the form must be printed and submitted with the notarized signature of the attorney. The completed Affidavit is to be submitted via email to appointedcounsel@tncourts.gov.
